Beginning November 1, 2026, the Vincent Thomas Bridge will be completely closed in both directions for 16 months to replace its deck. The bridge connects the Port of Los Angeles’ Terminal Island to San Pedro. The bridge opened in 1963, and, after 63 years of use and coastal weather, it is in desperate need of repair.
During the closure, trucks will be rerouted to surface streets. Ugh!
The closure of the Vincent Thomas Bridge will overlap with the 2028 Summer Olympics being hosted in Los Angeles.
The Olympics will be bring another level of traffic controls, especially as it relates to access and times allowed for deliveries to warehouses in the Los Angeles Basin.
It is going to be ugly in the Southland for a while. Be prepared for delays.
