Fuel prices are going up again in California due to taxes and regulations.

Effective July 1, 2024, both the sales tax and the excise tax on gasoline and diesel are set to take their annual increase. This year, the increase will be about 2 cents/gallon.

But, do not think you will be getting off easy this year as it will not stop there. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) released a report last year indicating fuel prices will rise by about $0.50/gallon each year due to the state’s clean air initiatives.
