Last month, the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) ratified their contract with the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX). The contract is retroactive to October 1, 2024 and will expire on September 30, 2030 and covers port operations on the US East and Gulf Coasts.
The new contract contains a 62% wage increase, assurances automation will have a human element and more union consultation in the use of automation.
