The video above is a short snippet from a 50 minute press conference yesterday. The US Department of Transportation (DOT), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), the Department of Justice (DOJ) and a host of state agencies announced a consolidated effort to crack down on fraud in the trucking industry.
The Joint Task Force Crossroads of America will “target criminal networks and fraud to reduce highway fatalities and protect Americans.” Their first target is sketchy commercial truck driving schools. The task force closed 270 schools which accounted for 5,000 drivers who failed English Language Proficiency tests.
