
The Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) has opened a formal investigation into ocean carrier chassis practices for potential violations of the Shipping Act which “unjustly and unreasonably restrict truckers and shippers from dealing with chassis providers.”
As a reminder, the FMC ruled in favor of the American Trucking Associations (ATA) in their case against the Ocean Carrier Equipment Management Association (OCEMA) over OCEMA’s restrictions of chassis choice.
