Meanwhile, labor tensions to the north between the ILWU Canada and the British Columbia Maritime Employers Associations (BCEMA) are running high with the ILWU Canada following through on its strike vote with a strike that began on Saturday, July 1st.

Despite a Canadian federal mediator being brought in to facilitate, the negotiations between the parties are not going well. It is reported the two sides are far apart on wages, jurisdiction and automation. That being said, both sides will continue the negotiations during the strike.

So far, there are no reverberations in US West Coast ports. We will keep an eye on the situation and let you know if that changes.
