As you plan your summer road trip, consider Ely, Nevada. WorldAtlas ranked it as the most underrated town in Nevada.
Ely is in northwestern Nevada about 320 miles from Reno. Its roots go back to copper mining and was once a stop on the Pony Express.
While you are there, visit the railway museum, the White Pine Public Museum and “Renaissance Village.”
And, be sure to explore Great Basin National Park. It is only an hour away and home to the ancient bristlecone pines, Nevada’s tallest peak and Lehman Caves.
To prevent embarrassment, it is pronounced EE-Lee, not EE-Lie.
