The portal to file for tariff refunds is open, but filing requires a series of hurdles.
First, ensure you are the importer of record. Second, set up your ACE Secure Data Portal account. Third, enroll in ACH refunds. Fourth, prepare your Consolidated Administration and Processing of Entries (CAPE) declaration listing all entries in which you paid IEEPA tariffs. Fifth, log into your ACE Secure Data Portal, click on the CAPE tab and submit your entries in a CSV file. Finally, wait 60-90 days for a refund…along with the 300,000 other importers who brought in 53 million IEEPA-tariff-subjected shipments.
Proving the “devil is the in details,” in the first six days of availability, the portal collected 13.3 million entries and denied approximately 15% for failing “entry-specific validations.”
Meanwhile, the 10% Section 122 tariffs are still in effect until July 24, 2026 while the administration actively pursues Section 301 tariffs. As a reminder, Section 301 tariffs allow the administration to impose tariffs on countries whose policies, subsidies, and labor practices put US interests in an unfair trade position.
