Some Congress members are concerned about giving Oakland federal grant funding to pay for the Oakland A’s stadium. Given the recent supply chain crisis, these Congress members are not eager to hand over limited port property for a stadium and residential/retail development project.
In their appeal to US Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, they stated, “With the rest of the port continuing to operate as a working waterfront, there are significant safety risks presented by large crowds navigating an area with hundreds of trucks moving through the port each day, rail crossings, and large container vessels navigating the waterway.”
