This year’s Capitol Christmas Tree is from our very own backyard. It was selected from the Humbolt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada, and is a 53′ Red Fir. It is the first ever Red Fir chosen to don our nation’s capital.

The 3,700 mile journey started on Nevada Day, November 1st. The tree made fifteen stops and was celebrated with parades and festivals on its way to Washington DC. It was delivered on November 21st.

The tree will be decorated with approximately 5,000 ornaments handmade by the citizens of Nevada. Watch the official Capitol Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Tuesday, De ember 2nd at 5:00pm ET.
