There is growing concern in the industry over the merger of the Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern railroads.
The BNSF spoke up and said, “It is anti-competitive, unnecessary to secure any achievable benefits, and will hurt famers, industrial shippers, rail works, and consumers.”
Also citing anti-competitive concerns and negative consequences to agriculture, mining, forestry and manufacturing, seven state attorneys general submitted a letter to the Surface Transportation Board (STB) urging the STB to deny the merger petition.
