Remember to set your clocks back one hour on Sunday, November 3rd. It marks the end of Daylight Savings Time and the beginning of Standard Time.

Why do we change the clocks anyway? To save energy and maximize the use of daylight. In 1966, President Johnson signed the Uniform Time Act which created Daylight Savings Time as a means to conserve energy. It was thought the lighter evenings would require fewer lights and, therefore, less energy.

Initially, clocks were set forward the last Sunday in April and backward the last Sunday in October. Then in 2007, and some say at the request of the candy industry to maximize Halloween buying, the timing was changed to the second Sunday of March for Spring forward and first Sunday of November for Fall back.
