FIRE FIGHTING TRAIN

Northern California and Northern Nevada are experiencing significant forest fires. Whether you live in the area or elsewhere, you have likely heard the news and have seen the pictures of the devastation.

But, did you know logistics is part of the solution? The above video shows a fire train helping to slow the progression of the Dixie Fire.

Since these trains were created in the 1980’s, the Union Pacific has sent them to battle fires all across the west. They not only protect the tracks and land and communities surrounding them but they also transport fire fighters to some of the more remote locations.
