The Port of Oakland was awarded $322 million under the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Ports grant program. It is the largest grant ever received by the port and when match with other contributions, it will mean the port will have $500 million to finance its transition to zero emissions.
The money will be used to purchase 188 pieces of zero-emission cargo handling equipment and 475 zero-emission drayage trucks.
