Tesla is expanding its Gigafactory in McCarran, NV (15 miles east of Reno) to build electric semi trucks and next-generation batteries.
The expansion will be a $3.6B investment in the plant. It will increase the facility’s footprint by 4M square feet. When completed, it will employ an estimated 3,000 additional people.
Currently, the manufacturing facility employs 7,000 people and produces electric motors, batteries and their energy storage system.
